Hounsai Genshitsu Sen

HOUNSAI GENSHITSU SEN was born in 1923 and is a fifteenth-generation descendant of tea master Sen Rikyu (1522-91), who established the foundations of chanoyu (tea ceremony) as they are still practiced today. Under the name Soshitsu Sen XV, Hounsai was the grand master of Urasenke tea school for thirty-eight years from 1964. His efforts have made Urasenke the largest school of its kind.
